Tijuana River Action Month (TRAM)

 A series of education and stewardship events held during September
and October to benefit the Tijuana River Watershed.

The Tijuana River Action Network (TRAN) is a collaborative of grassroots-community groups and non-profits from the U.S. and Mexico committed to cross-border collaboration to address the conservation and restoration of the Tijuana River watershed by engaging in outreach, education, and advocating for natural resources.

Tijuana River Action Month (TRAM) is a series of education and stewardship events held during September and October to benefit the Tijuana River Watershed. The goals of Tijuana River Action Month are to mobilize a record number of community volunteers and groups to become stewards of the Tijuana River Watershed; and, to recognize key efforts and investments by public and private agencies, businesses, non-profits and community groups to protect and restore the Tijuana River.

 

7th Annual Tijuana River Action Month

  • 2,934 volunteers
  • 8,136 volunteer hours completed
  • 2 miles of trails improved
  • 8.5 acres of habitat improved
  • Over 64,000 pounds (128 cubic yards!) of trash removed
  • 29 tires removed
  • 320 native plants installed

6th Annual Tijuana River Action Month

  • 3,945 volunteers
  • 42.80 tons of trash and 284 waste tires removed
  • 160 native plants installed
  • 19.2 acres of habitat improved
  • 15,780 volunteer hours donated
  • Weekly plantings at Binational Friendship Garden

5th Annual Tijuana River Action Month

  • 2,181 volunteers
  • 38 tons of trash and 106 waste tires removed
  • 190 native plants installed
  • 8.3 acres of habitat improved
  • 25 eco-bricks created from re-used solid waste from the watershed

  • Bi-national planting ceremony with US and MX elected officials at the Friendship Garden
